'08:

Other results of note: the three Saleem juniors, Nabil,
Danial, Arhum, were each victorious in their skill levels,
winning the 3.0s, 3.5s, 4.0s respectively.
Bryan Keating of Philadelphia proved the class of the
Under 19 draw. Two unsuccessful PSA Qualifiers,
Mohammed Farooq and Maxim LeClair, both of Canada, marched
through the 6.0 draw, with Farooq winning the final in 4.
LeClair is the new assistant pro at the Montreal Midtown
Athletic Club.
Former Atlantan & now Connecticutian
Adam Walker marched through the 5.5s. Billy Potter
of UGA reversed his first round loss to Adrian Cronje in
the 5.5s to prevail over Cronje in the semis and then take
the 5.0s.
Concourse’s Paul Boyce came back to take
the 4.5s over Midtown’s Paul Havey. Tim Osborne came
back from match ball to defeat Columbia’s Harry Miley in
the 50Bs. And Michael Kilgallon triumphed over a very
tired Thomas deLange in the 50s.
Surprising back
stories were the reversals of fortune for the many (almost
all) who played two draws; e.g., Midtown’s Samuel Gitungo
managed to make the 4.0s semis but lose in the 3.5s quarters
to frequent partner Jonathon McMurry. That, and the
surprising number of late round walkovers due to injury
and illness.
20 pros, 102 amateurs, the 7th annual.
Look for the 8th annual DragonDoc to come back at the $7,500
PSA level. |
