The 28th Grant Thornton Southeasterns pulled 90+ players to
Midtown in late February, competing for free entry to the
National Skill Levels in April and a generous travel stipend.
Play was spirited throughout… standout performances from the
entire Saleem family: Danial won the 4.5s, Nabil won the 4.0s
and Arhum beat just about everybody in sight without getting a
winner’s trophy. Rob Burton played a good tournament, saving six
match points against first seed John Mahorner in the 4.5s to get
to the finals.
